Robots that vacuum and clean provide the convenience of cleaning dry and wet messes in one session without the need to switch between devices. They can also save space in comparison to two separate units, particularly in smaller living areas.
A good combination bot must be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacles avoidance. Look for models that have docks that let them automatically empty their bins, fill their water tanks and wash the mopping pads.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It has a lot to offer for its relatively modest price, and it's among the easiest robots we've tested to set up. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and a quick-start guide will have you up and running with a clean and complete dust bag, a hard floor solution and water tank in no time.
The S1 Pro is a powerful small machine that can mops up a storm and vacuums well too. The mops are spun at a high rate and employ 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to quickly get rid of pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a variety of brushes and attachments, and a user-friendly application that lets you pick the type of cleaning you'd like to have for each room.
For instance, you can request the robot to clean the kitchen and living room thoroughly, but leave the spare bedroom alone. The S1 Pro's front collision sensors and its smart navigation technology are also excellent and the robot is capable of detecting tiny obstacles that other models have difficulty overcoming. The only problem is that the robot is known to smash into objects and walls at full speed. However, a quick look at the history of cleaning on the app will reveal exactly what the robot has accomplished, where it's moving, and what obstacles it has encountered or avoided.
A large LCD screen on the docking station informs you when maintenance tasks need to be done like emptying the debris tray, and cleaning the dirty water tank. It's also able to mix detergent automatically into the water tank by using a 600ml bottle filled with eufy's own solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time as well, with the mop being capable of running for up to 184 minutes in quiet mode, while the vacuum is capable of running for 136 minutes in normal mode, before needing to recharge or return to the base to refill. The app is simple to use and intuitive that lets you see every aspect of the cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's most popular robot vacuum and mop, is the most up-to-date version. Unlike last year's model, this one features a double agitator in its mopping pad which greatly improves carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has improved suction power, allowing it to pick up small hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners could overlook.
As with the two other Roborock models I've tried, this one has reactive 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology which can help it avoid walls, furniture and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things one step further by incorporating a dual camera that can detect objects and determine whether they're an object that is a wall or a different surface. It is able to change its direction automatically and clean around the objects without missing a step.
It's the most expensive robot I've ever tested however it also comes with the most features. Its sleek and angular design is eye-catching and it has only three physical buttons: the power button, which can also restart cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock and a home button to return the robot to its dock. The hinged lid can be opened to reveal a 350ml dustbin and 200ml of water tank. The water tank will empty itself and the bin is auto-refilling.
The only downside I've discovered with this model was that its VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. You can replace the mopping cloth if required, but it's not easy to take the mount off for washing manually. I've observed that any soft carpet the robot crosses will come into contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener mechanism on the mount, and that can cause abrasions.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a variety of smart features, including support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can configure and manage these using the Roborock app that is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you plan cleanings and monitor the battery's lifespan. However, you'll have to go through a few hurdles to allow voice control with this model which is unfortunate considering how well it performs otherwise.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is a leader in the industry with innovative features, superior suction power and advanced mowing capabilities. Its clever design permits customised and efficient cleaning while also saving time.
The X40 is the first robotic vacuum cleaner to provide 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which makes it one of the top options available. This powerful vacuum can clear up pet hair dust, crumbs and any other dry mess. It has a mop of top quality that cleans hard floors without using pads. Additionally, the X40 is quiet in operation, only producing occasional bursts of sound when switching between modes or completing self-maintenance tasks.
Another notable feature is the X40's extendable and liftable side brush, which lets it get into difficult-to-access corners as well as clean furniture, such as tables and chair legs. It can also get under low-profile furnishings which makes it a great option for smaller apartments or condos. The side brush also automatically swivels downwards when it detects wet spots. This is a nice addition that assists the X40 to avoid causing damage to floors by excessive back-and-forth movements.
Unlike other robots, which are limited to a single task, the X40 can mop and vacuum simultaneously. It can be programmed to only mop the hard floors and not skip carpeted areas, and vice versa. It can be controlled via the Dreame app or with Alexa, Siri, and Google Home to ensure a smooth voice-controlled operation.
The app is easy to use and intuitive and the X40 comes with a variety of smart features that are simple to set up. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, alter suction power and mode, look at mapping and floor plans, and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also keep track of its progress, and alert you when it's finished.
The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with numerous features that make it a perfect choice for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin into a large 3.2 L bin, cleans the mop pads, then refills them with clean water and cleaning solution. It also can detect when the mop pad is full and alert you before it gets overflowing, reducing the need for manual maintenance.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that's one of the most expensive models available and comes with numerous additional features that make it stand out. The mops are equipped with a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. This utilizes two mops that are high-speed to scrub floors more thoroughly than the standard method, and has an impressive suction power of 7,000Pa. This is higher than Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also clean pet hair, dirt particles and remove spills and dirt-stained spots.
The mops are also cleaned and dried inside the base station after every use. This is an excellent feature since it prevents the build-up of odours and mould in storage, and also makes mop systems more efficient. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robot mop and vacuum models. It could be a great method to keep your home clean longer.
There's a wealth of options available which include the possibility to schedule cleaning appointments and alter a variety of preferences. The app lets you set these preferences or you can utilize the buttons on the device itself. The app is easy to use and provides a variety of options for customising the cleaning routine, and there are numerous features that other robots don't have - such as the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power whenever it detects dust particles rather than using the manual setting.
The L20 Ultra is also one of the most fashionable robots we've seen in the market, with a white and metallic design that looks elegant and classy. It's a bit heavier at 4kg than the other robots on this listing but it's not too heavy. It is solid and well-built. The mopping design is also excellent and the double-rotating mops work well on hard floors and in corners. The MopExtend feature lets them extend up to 2mm below the baseboards.
